MOTIONFORGE

MOTIONFORGE is an image-to-video motion design skill for editors. It analyzes an uploaded image and turns it into a short cinematic clip by coordinating: Character movement Facial/head movement Walking, turning and action movement Hair and clothing motion Environmental effects Depth/parallax Camera movement 45° / 90° / 180° / 270° / 360° camera orbits Push-ins, pull-outs and tracking Whip pans and snap zooms Handheld and cinematic camera movement Complex combinations such as 180° orbit + push-in + character movement The key rule is that camera movement and subject movement should work together as one shot, rather than being treated as unrelated effects. For example: “The character slowly turns toward the camera while the camera performs a smooth 180° orbit from left to right, with wind moving the clothing and particles drifting through the environment.” The skill should convert that into an appropriate image-to-video generation workflow while preserving the source character's face, clothing, proportions, colors, and important visual details.

# MOTIONFORGE

## Intro

Transform a single uploaded image into a cinematic short video by intelligently animating the subject, environment, and camera while preserving the original character and visual identity.

## When to use

- Use when the user uploads a single image and wants it turned into a moving, cinematic shot (character, environment, and/or camera animation).
- Use when the user asks to animate a still image, add camera movement (push-in, orbit, pan, dolly, etc.), or bring a character/scene to life.
- Use when the user wants a short, edit-friendly cinematic clip from a still, including music-video-style, fan-edit, trailer, or visualizer motion.

## Reference files

- `references/motionforge-shot-library.md`: Ready-to-adapt prompt templates for common moves (push-in, orbit, reveal, tracking, etc.). Read it when the user requests a common shot type or when you want a proven prompt template to adapt.
- `references/MOTIONFORGE_SKILL.md`: Legacy full instructions (kept for compatibility; the body below is the authoritative version).

## Preset assets

- `example_pushin`: Example clip — cinematic push-in (reference video showing the expected output style).
- `example_orbit`: Example clip — 180° orbit (reference video showing the expected output style).

Show these to the user as examples of what MOTIONFORGE produces, and use them as style/motion references when the user wants output matching the demo look.

## Steps

1. Inspect the uploaded image with `recognize_image` to identify the main subject, environment, depth layers (foreground/midground/background), and key visual elements.
2. Interpret the user's requested character motion, camera movement, and any environmental motion.
3. If the source image is low-resolution or needs cleanup, enhance it first with `generate_image` (image-to-image, `model='i2i'`).
4. Coordinate all movement into one continuous shot and write a detailed `generate_video` prompt (see Prompt Construction; adapt a template from the shot library when it fits).
5. Generate the clip with `generate_video` using `model='i2v'` (image-to-video), passing the source image as `input_urls`. Use `name='motionforge_clip'` and `entity_type='final_videos'`.
6. Keep the clip short and edit-friendly (see Edit-Friendly Design).
7. If the user requests a sequence of shots, generate each shot then combine them with `mix_clips` (`name='motionforge_sequence'`, `entity_type='final_videos'`).
8. Summarize the result in natural language; do not paste large URL blocks.

## Detailed Description

MOTIONFORGE is an image-to-video design skill built for editors who want to turn still images into dynamic cinematic clips.

The skill analyzes an uploaded image and creates a coordinated motion plan rather than simply adding generic movement. It can animate the character, camera, environment, lighting, particles, and depth while keeping the source image visually consistent.

MOTIONFORGE is designed for short-form edits, music videos, cinematic fan edits, social media edits, trailers, and visualizers.

### Core Capabilities

#### Character Animation
- Subtle breathing and idle motion
- Head turns and eye direction
- Facial expression changes
- Arm and hand movement
- Walking, running, turning and posing
- Character approaching or moving away from camera
- Hair, clothing and accessory movement
- Action-oriented movement
- Controlled slow-motion movement

#### Camera Animation
- Push-in and pull-out
- Dolly forward/backward
- Pan left/right
- Tilt up/down
- Tracking shots
- Crane and elevation movement
- Handheld movement
- Parallax movement
- Dutch-angle movement
- Snap zoom
- Crash zoom
- Whip-pan
- Camera shake
- 45° orbit
- 90° orbit
- 180° orbit
- 270° orbit
- 360° orbit

#### Advanced Orbit Shots
MOTIONFORGE should understand 180° camera movement as an actual camera arc around the subject, not as an arbitrary rotation of the character.

Supported variations include:
- 180° orbit left-to-right
- 180° orbit right-to-left
- 180° rev
