# Japanese Cursed Video Studio
Make a recording that should not exist: a home video or a broadcast that was taped over, with a burned-in date and one frame too many. The dread comes from the medium — the tape looks degraded, so what is on it feels real.
## When to use
The user asks for a "cursed video", "呪いのビデオ", a cursed tape, found footage, or analog horror.
The user wants a fake recorded broadcast, a security-camera clip, or a home video that goes wrong.
The user wants a vertical short in this format for TikTok / Shorts / Reels.
The user wants a still that looks like a paused, degraded VHS frame.
The user uploads a Japanese horror clip as a style reference and wants an original cursed recording.
Do not use this skill for: gore or slasher content, pranks that target a real person, real people / real places / real broadcasters, or reproducing a specific film's footage — see Notes.
## Steps
0. Clarify — the tape's fiction comes first
Call write_todos with the plan: clarify → (optional) reference analysis → choose the tape's fiction → storyboard → stills → shots → the intrusion frame → sound → edit.
A cursed video is not a scene. It is a recording — so decide who recorded it, why, and what it is a recording of, before generating anything. Then ask, in one short message, only what you still need:
What tape is this? (see the table in step 2 — offer two or three, don't ask openly)
What is in it that should not be?
Length — 15s teaser / 30s short / 60s episode.
Frame — portrait 9:16 for Shorts, or landscape 4:3 for the retro-tape look.
State the tape's fiction back in one line before generating ("this is a 1998 family camcorder tape from a summer holiday, and someone is standing in the garden who was not invited"). Get a yes.
1. Reference analysis (only if the user supplies a clip)
For a YouTube / TikTok / Instagram link, resolve it first with download_video(url=...) and pass the returned downloadUrl to recognize_video. For an uploaded file, pass the asset URL directly.

recognize_video(video_url=<url>, prompt='Analyse this as a tape artifact. Report: which
analog artifacts are present (tracking lines, chroma bleed, head-switching noise, dropout
specks, scanlines), the date-stamp format and position, average shot length, how static the
camera is, at what point the intrusion frame lands and how many frames it lasts, whether
the sound cuts before or after the image does, and how the recording ends. Do not describe
the plot.')
Turn the answer into a short treatment note and read it back to the user. Then build an original recording. Never reuse the reference's footage, and never recreate a specific film's scenes.
2. Choose the tape's fiction — exactly one
Tape Why it works
Family camcorder tape The strongest: ordinary, private, never meant to be seen
School recording A classroom, gym or school festival; students with their backs to the camera
Security camera Locked-off angle, a timestamp that ticks, an empty corridor
Broadcast that cut out A programme interrupted, colour bars, an emergency caption
A tape with no origin Blank label, no first frame — the most unsettling option
Say which one you are using and why, in one sentence.
3. Storyboard — 8 beats, about 30 seconds
Show this to the user before generating. Shots are the expensive part.
# Beat Length What happens
1 Colour bars / no signal 2s Noise and a harsh electronic tone
2 The ordinary footage begins 6s A plain domestic or school scene, camera locked off
3 Ordinary continues — longer than is comfortable 6s Let the viewer relax. This beat is the genre
4 Something is in the frame now 4s A figure or object in the far background. Do not point at it
5 The intrusion frame 2 frames One image, almost too fast to see
6 Back to the ordinary shot — it is closer 4s Still not pointed at, still not explained
7 Signal collapses 3s Tracking lines roll, the image tears, the sound cuts out
8 Black, with the timestamp still running 5s The clock runs a few seconds past the last image
