## Part I — Series bible

### Logline
A broke night-shift worker moves into a rundown building where a door that isn't on the floor plan keeps appearing. Every time it opens, it grants him what he desperately needs — and takes something he can never get back. To save his dying sister, he must learn the door's rules before it takes everything he has left.

### Character bible (short)

**LEO (protagonist, early 20s)** — Surface weakness: broke, evicted, works night shifts, no savings, no one to turn to. Hidden advantage: he is the only one the door "chose," and he can read its rules (via the previous tenant's notebook). External goal: get Maya's surgery. Internal need: to stop being the person who loses everyone he loves. First active choice (Ep1): he opens the door and makes the deal.

**MAYA (protected object, 17)** — Leo's younger sister. Sick, needs a $50k surgery her lapsed insurance won't cover. She is the emotional core and the door's leverage over Leo. She loves Leo unconditionally — which is exactly why the door wants her.

**MR. VANCE (middle antagonist, 60s)** — The building's landlord. Made a deal with the door decades ago and has been feeding it desperate tenants to buy his own freedom. Knows the rules, hides them, and will sacrifice anyone to stay off the "list."

**THE ENTITY / THE DOOR (final antagonist)** — A supernatural force that appears when you're at your lowest. Grants wishes, takes something irreplaceable. Once it has seen you, you cannot refuse. It feeds on being wanted — on people who are loved. Its true nature: it was once human, the building's original owner, who made a wish and became the door.

### Antagonist ladder
- **early_antagonist:** The door itself — its escalating demands and the first payment it takes.
- **middle_antagonist:** Mr. Vance — the keeper who feeds the door others to save himself.
- **final_antagonist:** The Entity — the door's true nature, revealed as a trapped human who became a predator.

### Hook rules and limits (the golden finger)
The door grants wishes, but:
- It appears only when you are at your lowest — you cannot summon it.
- Once it has seen you, you cannot refuse a deal.
- Every wish costs something irreplaceable (a memory, a year, a person's love).
- It always takes more than it gives, and the price escalates each time.
- It cannot be destroyed or bargained with — only understood and outwitted.
- First use (Ep1): Leo trades for the surgery money; the price is named at the end of the episode.

### Episodes 2–20 beat outline (one paragraph each)

**Ep2 — The List.** Leo has the money; Maya's surgery is scheduled. But the door reappears in the hallway — open, waiting. Vance warns him: "You made a deal. Now you're on the list." Leo finds the previous tenant's notebook hidden in his room, mapping the door's rules. The door takes its first payment: Leo's reflection vanishes from every mirror.

**Ep3 — First Verification.** Leo uses the notebook to try to outwit the door, learning it can't take what you don't value. He tries to make himself value nothing. The door takes Maya's memory of him instead — she no longer recognizes her own brother. Leo realizes the true price and vows to reverse it.

**Ep4 — The Other Tenant.** Leo meets a woman trapped in the building who made a deal decades ago. She beco
