# Anime Facial Expressions
## When to use
- Activate **whenever we generate any anime or animated-style image or video with characters**: anime film/drama shots, MVs, cutscenes, character portraits, reaction shots.
- Use standalone (the user describes an anime scene and wants expressive character faces) **or** as an overlay on other generation workflows (movie-maker, short-maker, music-video-lovagen, etc.): the same anime expression rules apply to every generation step that shows a face.
- For realistic/cinematic character work, use the character-expression-director skill instead; this skill governs anime/animated art styles. When dialogue is present, coordinate with dialogue-lip-sync; when the scene is wordless, coordinate with non-verbal-character-sounds.
## Core principles
1. **Clear, expressive, high-quality anime style.** Every character's face must strongly match the emotion, mood, and situation of the scene. Expressions should be visually readable, emotionally believable, and consistent with polished anime cinematography.
2. **Expressive anime features.** Use detailed eyes, sharp eyebrow movement, clear mouth shapes, cheek tension, eye highlights, blush, shadows, sweat drops, trembling lips, widened eyes, narrowed eyes, and subtle changes in face shape when needed. The expression should immediately communicate what the character feels without looking stiff or emotionless.
3. **Emotion map.**
- **Happy**: bright eyes, lifted cheeks, relaxed eyebrows, open positive energy.
- **Angry**: intense eyes, lowered or sharp eyebrows, visible facial tension, stronger mouth shapes.
- **Sad**: softer eyes, lowered facial energy, trembling or pressed lips, vulnerable look.
- **Scared**: wide eyes, tense brows, nervous mouth movement, visible panic or uncertainty.
- **Surprised**: widened eyes, raised brows, clear change in mouth shape.
- **Determined**: focused eyes, controlled tension, confident serious expression.
4. **Expressions move, not freeze.** Facial expressions should change naturally during the scene instead of staying frozen. Add small anime-style facial movements such as blinking, eye direction changes, eyebrow motion, mouth movement, subtle head tilts, cheek movement, and emotional reaction beats. During intense moments, allow stronger anime expression changes, but keep them controlled and consistent with the tone.
5. **The face supports the performance.** The face should support the character's voice, body language, and action. When a character speaks, the expression should match the meaning and emotion of the dialogue. When another character speaks, non-speaking characters should react naturally with their eyes, eyebrows, posture, and subtle facial changes.
6. **Consistency.** Avoid blank faces, lifeless eyes, random expressions, broken facial anatomy, mismatched emotions, delayed reactions, or expressions that do not fit the scene. Keep the anime facial style consistent throughout the entire video, with expressive eyes, clear emotions, and cinematic emotional timing from the first frame to the last.
## Prompt building blocks
- **Positive frame**: "High-quality anime style. {Character}'s face clearly expresses {emotion}: {emotion descriptors from the map}. Detailed anime eyes with highlights, sharp eyebrows, clear mouth shape, cheek tension, {blush/shadows/sweat drops as needed}. The expression changes naturally through the scene — blinking, eye direction changes, eyebrow motion, small head tilts, cheek movement, emotional reaction beats; during {intense moment} allow stronger but controlled anime expression changes. When {character} speaks, the face matches the meaning and emotion of the line; when not speaking, they react naturally with eyes, eyebrows, and posture. The anime facial style stays consistent throughout — expressive eyes, clear emotions, cinematic emotional timing from first frame to last."
- **Guardrails to avoid** in the prompt: blank faces, lifeless eyes, random expressions, broke
