Meme Machine 2.0 - Series and Characters
Meme Machine 2.0 takes your one sentence and turns it into a punchy 9:16 meme video — and now it remembers your character so it shows up again and again. Built on the original Meme Machine baseline (one sentence → 5-10s vertical 9:16 meme, bold captions, locked character via session memory, three caption variants, classic meme formats, automatic language detection, cheap standard channels by default with Pro only on request, image recognition on uploads, mixed clips with hard subtitles, optional TTS voice line, context-aware next actions, max one clarifying question). What's new in 2.0: - Recurring meme character: upload a photo or pick a built-in archetype and the same character carries into every turn. - Multi-part 1-2-3 series: an escalating setup → middle → punchline with the locked character in each part, stitched together. - Weekly-trend mode: say "make this week's trending format" and it infers a current popular meme format/trope to build around. - Session memory keeps your locked character, chosen style and running jokes across turns; "continue" extends the last meme. - Smart intent builder silently expands a short line into a full setup→punchline plan. - Automatic model routing: good-quality standard (Meme-credit) image + motion models by default, Pro only on request. - Context-aware follow-up buttons after every result so you can iterate in one click. ✨ Features | Feature | What you get | |---------|--------------| | 🔁 Another variant | Same joke, fresh caption punchline | | 🎭 Same character, new joke | Lock the star and change the bit | | 😂 Make it more absurd | Dial the surrealism up | | 🎬 Turn into 3-part series | Episode 1 / 2 / 3 with the same character | | 🌍 Translate captions | Re-render into any language | | 📈 Weekly-trend mode | "Make this week's trending format" | | 🧠 Session memory | Character, style and running jokes saved across turns | | ⚡ Smart intent builder | Short line → full setup-punchline plan, silently | | 🎯 Auto model routing | Standard image+motion by default, Pro only on request | | ❓ Max one clarifying question | Never more than one question per request | Just drop a line and hit go — the same character, bold captions, any language.

# Meme Machine 2.0 - Series and Characters
Turn one sentence into a punchy, ready-to-post vertical meme video. Default to cheap standard channels (bare t2i / i2i / i2v, 480P portrait) so it stays affordable on free credits; use Pro/HD variants only if the user explicitly asks.
## When to use
- User types one sentence (joke, situation, caption) and wants a meme video out of it.
- User wants to continue a meme series or reuse the same locked character ("again", "next part", "continue", "same character, new joke").
- User wants a reaction-meme format (POV, "nobody: / me:", expectation vs reality, Drake-style two-panel).
- User wants a multi-part 1/2/3 series with the same character.
- User says "make this week's trending format" -> weekly-trend mode.
- User wants to restyle, change the caption, or redo the last one.
## Reference files
- references/meme-formats.md: read when the user picks a reaction format, builds a multi-part series, or you need caption layout / weekly-trend guidance.
## Steps
### 0. Load session memory + lock the character
- Before anything, call memory_query for the locked meme character, the chosen style, and running jokes. Don't assume: check memory first.
- The word "continue" (or "next part") means: memory_query the last meme and build on it, same character, extending the running joke.
- If the user uploads a photo/character: call recognize_image to capture the look, then memory_store it (kind person, namespace meme-machine-2.0) as the locked character. If they pick a built-in archetype (deadpan office worker, dramatic cat, confused grandma, etc.), memory_store that description the same way.
- Recurring character (2.0): before generating, always memory_query for an existing locked character; if one exists, reuse it (pass the same character image as reference) instead of inventing a new one. After generating a character, memory_store it so it recurs in later turns.
- Detect the user's language from their sentence and write all captions in it (Danish, English, Spanish, German, Arabic, etc.). memory_store the language preference (kind preference, namespace meme-machine-2.0).
- If the user says "forget/change the character", memory_query to find the id and memory_store the new one (or note the change).
### 1. Smart intent builder (silent)
- Silently expand a short user line into a full setup -> punchline plan: a short setup caption (top) and a hard-hitting punchline caption (bottom), big bold Impact-style (white text, black outline).
- Produce 3 caption variants (different punchlines/wording) to choose from.
- Do this quietly: don't dump the planning process on the user; just present the variants.
### 2. Clarify (at most ONE question)
Ask at most one clarifying question if truly needed (which reaction format, whether they want a voice line, or part count for a series). Otherwise just make it. Never ask more than one.
### 3. Weekly-trend mode (optional)
- If the user says "make this week's trending format / meme / trope", call search_web to infer a current popular format or trope, then build the meme around it. memory_store the trend (kind fact, namespace meme-machine-2.0) so it can be reused.
### 4. Generate the character / panels (images)
- Use generate_image. Default cheap standard channel: t2i (no reference) or i2i (with the locked character photo as input_urls). Use Pro t2i.hd / i2i.hd only if the user explicitly asks.
- orientation='portrait' (9:16). name = character or panel name; entity_type='characters' for the character sheet, entity_type='storyboard_images' for meme panels.
- Keep the locked character consistent across all panels (pass the same character image as reference for each panel): critical for series.
### 5. Multi-part series (1/2/3)
- For a "part 1 / part 2 / part 3" series: same locked character across all parts (reuse the same character image). Build one setup caption (part 1) -> an escalating middle (part 2) -> the punchline/ending (part 3). Follow the series guidance in refere
