# YouTube Thumbnail Key Art
Generates punchy, readable-at-small-size 16:9 key art for YouTube (and similar) thumbnails, in a consistent cinematic 3D / stylized look, with a clean zone reserved for a short text overlay. Optionally delivers a small set of A/B variants, a vertical 9:16 Shorts cover, and a written brief document (prompt, overlay copy, negative constraints).
## When to use
- The user asks for a thumbnail, key art, cover, hero image, poster, banner, or "clickable poster" for a video, channel, or Shorts.
- The user gives a topic, script, video title, or channel identity and wants a thumbnail concept built from it.
- The user pastes a long, detailed visual brief (subject, angle, lighting, palette, negative constraints) and wants it turned into an image.
- The user wants to refine, restyle, restage, or re-color an existing thumbnail.
- The user wants several alternative thumbnails to A/B test, or the same thumbnail adapted to 9:16.
Do NOT use for: full illustrations/posters for print, logo design, UI mockups, or any NSFW/adult content.
## Steps
0. **Load context first.** Call `memory_whoami` once, then `memory_query` for the user's channel, brand palette, house style, signature characters, and overlay-copy preferences. If a brand kit is stored, apply it (palette, logo placement, character look). If nothing is stored, continue with defaults and offer to save a brand kit at the end. Use `references/brand-kit.md` for what to store and how.
1. **Read the brief.** Extract (or ask for) the 7 slots below. If the user pasted a full paragraph like the example, do not ask again - just structure it.
- Subject + antagonist/object
- Camera angle & composition (e.g. extreme low-angle, worm's-eye view, tilted diagonal)
- Foreground elements (silhouetted characters, scale contrast)
- Lighting (rim light, key light direction, colored practicals)
- Palette + materials (e.g. teal-and-orange, polished stylized 3D)
- Style / audience (cinematic 3D animated cartoon, family-friendly, product-shot realism)
- Negative constraints ("no text, no logos, no watermark, no extra limbs, no duplicated characters")
Ask at most one round of clarifying questions, and only for slots that would change the image materially (subject, style, aspect). Everything else can be decided by you.
2. **Reserve negative space.** Thumbnail text usually sits in a corner. Always instruct a clean, uncluttered area (default: upper-left) for a short overlay, and keep the subject off-center accordingly. The default is **no text baked into the image**, since the platform overlay is added later. Only bake text if the user explicitly asks, and then keep it to 1-3 short words.
3. **Generate the master.** Call `generate_image` with:
- `model='t2i.hd'` for text-to-image (best prompt adherence for long structured briefs). Use bare `model='t2i'` only for adult/sensitive briefs, since the `.hd` variants do not support NSFW.
- `orientation='landscape'` (16:9), `resolution='2K'` (auto-falls back if unsupported).
- `name='Thumbnail Key Art'` - vary the suffix per variant, e.g. `Thumbnail Key Art v2`.
- `entity_type='thumbnails'` (fixed for every image this skill produces; never mix with other stages).
- `prompt`: one dense paragraph in **English**, ordered: camera & framing -> subject -> foreground -> lighting -> palette/materials -> style & audience -> negative space -> negative constraints. Keep it under ~120 words, no bullet characters.
- If the user uploaded a reference image (or a previous thumbnail to refine), use `model='i2i.hd'` with `input_urls=[<asset_id>]` and keep the same `name`/`entity_type` conventions. `i2i.hd` supports several references: pass a brand logo / character sheet as extra references to lock identity.
- If a logo must appear, bind it as the preset asset `brand_logo` and pass it in `input_urls`.
4. **Optional verification.** If the user wants details checked (composition, palette, characters, whether the nega
