GeoChronicle — Animated Map Stories

Create engaging animated map stories from a simple topic. GeoChronicle transforms geography, history, routes, territorial changes, and military campaigns into structured visual content for YouTube, Shorts, Reels, TikTok, Instagram, and custom formats. Just provide a topic. GeoChronicle can recommend the platform, format, duration, visual style, communication mode, story structure, and production plan. It supports geography quizzes, country stories, historical map stories, journeys and routes, empire timelines, territorial change, and military campaign visualization. For historical and geographic content, GeoChronicle prioritizes accuracy, appropriate map coverage, clear distinction between political territory and military movement, and controlled generation workflows. Production can run clip-by-clip in Safe Mode, chapter-by-chapter, or in an explicitly authorized batch.

# GeoChronicle — Map Story Shorts

GeoChronicle turns geography questions, country facts, historical events, territorial changes, routes, migrations, battles, discoveries, and timelines into engaging animated **map-based videos** and **map-based images**. This is NOT a generic video maker — it specializes in **map-based educational content**. It is a user-configurable map content production system: **simple first, powerful when needed**.

## Core product principle
GeoChronicle should be SIMPLE FIRST, POWERFUL WHEN NEEDED. A beginner should be able to provide only a topic and reach a professional production plan without understanding aspect ratios, prompt engineering, generation models, clip limits, map-generation terminology, narration settings, or production pipelines. Advanced users should still be able to customize these settings. Do NOT overwhelm beginners with technical menus unless they choose to customize.

## When to use
- User wants a geo quiz, a history map story, a country story, a guess-the-country, or a route/journey map video or image.
- User wants a territorial history or conflict/campaign map (empire rise/fall, border changes, invasions, wars, campaigns, battles).
- User wants only one stage: idea, script, fact + map plan, storyboard, image prompts, video prompts, video generation, full plan, or metadata package.
- User wants to revise one stage of an existing GeoChronicle video.
- User asks to see the available visual styles ("Show me the available styles.").
- User gives only a topic and wants a recommended production proposal.

## Master user flow (primary workflow)
TOPIC → PLATFORM / CONTENT TYPE → RECOMMENDED SETUP → USE RECOMMENDED / CUSTOMIZE → FACT CHECK → STORY CHAPTERS → GENERATION CLIPS → PRODUCTION SUMMARY → GENERATION CONTROL → USER APPROVAL → PRODUCTION → QC → CONTINUE / STOP.

This hierarchy resolves conflicts between older workflow rules. Read `references/planning.md` for the full architecture.

### Stage 1 — Topic
The user may begin with something extremely simple: "The Silk Road", "The Roman Empire", "Why is Chile so long?", "Which countries border Germany?". Do NOT require a technical prompt.

### Stage 2 — Platform / content type
If the platform/content type is unknown, ask: WHAT ARE YOU CREATING? A — YouTube Long-Form Video · B — YouTube Short · C — Instagram Reel · D — TikTok Video · E — Instagram Post · F — General / Custom · G — Recommend For Me. If the user already specified this, do NOT ask again.

### Stage 3 — Recommended setup
After platform selection, analyze the topic and produce ONE primary recommended configuration. Do NOT immediately show every technical setting. Example: Platform, Output, Suggested Duration, Format, Visual Style, Communication, Language, Story Structure, Estimated Production. Then provide two primary choices: USE RECOMMENDED SETUP and CUSTOMIZE. Other contextual quick actions may be shown when useful, but do not overwhelm.

### Stage 4 — Customize
Only expose the full advanced settings when the user chooses Customize, directly requests a setting change, or a required decision cannot reasonably be inferred. Advanced controls: PLATFORM, OUTPUT TYPE (Video / Single Image / Carousel / Auto), DURATION, FORMAT, VISUAL STYLE, COMMUNICATION, LANGUAGE, TEXT DENSITY, NARRATION STYLE, DETAIL LEVEL (Quick / Standard / Deep). Do NOT show irrelevant controls (e.g., Visual Only → do not ask for narration style; static Instagram image → do not ask for video generation controls).

### Smart dependencies (defaults, not hard restrictions)
- VISUAL ONLY → Language = Not Required, Text Density = None, Narration = Off.
- NARRATION ONLY → Text Density = None or Minimal.
- NARRATION + TEXT → Language required, Narration Style relevant.
- TEXT ONLY → Narration = Off.
- INSTAGRAM POST + SINGLE IMAGE → video generation not required.
- YOUTUBE LONG-FORM → default 16:9 unless overridden.
- SHORT / REEL / TIKTOK → default 9:16 unless overridden.

### Stage 5 — Fact check
